Being A Work-From-Home Dad

The Tightrope I’m Walking as a Work-from-Home Dad in 2025

It’s 2025.
AI writes faster than I can think.
Side hustles are everywhere.
Everyone’s telling you to quit your job, go viral, and chase freedom.

But I’m just trying to be a good dad.

I work from home.
I’ve got a full-time job, two amazing kids, and a side business I’m slowly building.
And every day feels like a tightrope walk between being present and pushing forward.

I Don’t Want My Kids to Think I Was Always “Busy”

It’s easy to get lost in the grind… even when you’re only 15 feet away from your kids all day.

Sometimes I catch myself saying:

“Not right now, I just need to finish this.”

But if I’m not careful, “this” becomes everything… and the moments I swore I wanted to be here for start slipping through the cracks.

So I’m learning to pause.
To say yes more often.
To write in the margins, not over the memories.

I’m Building Something, But I’m Watching Who’s Watching Me

I want to teach my kids grit, ownership, faith, and vision.

But they don’t learn that from a motivational speech.
They learn it from watching me work.

They see:

  • How I treat deadlines when no one’s watching
  • How I react when I fail
  • Whether I rest or numb out
  • Whether I stick to what I said I’d do
  • Whether my work builds our home or just pulls me out of it

This business I’m building?
It’s not just about income.
It’s about integrity.

The World’s Loud in 2025, So I’m Trying to Live Quietly

We live in an age of noise.
More apps. More hacks. More urgency.

But my most important work right now doesn’t show up on social media.

It looks like:

  • Reading with my daughter after lunch
  • Talking about money with my son
  • Hitting publish on a post no one reads (yet)
  • Praying over my work before I open my laptop
  • Saying “I’ll finish this later” so I can be there now

I’m not building a brand.
I’m building a life.

Want to See the System I’m Using?

I created a PDF called The Writing Dad System
A behind-the-scenes look at the schedule, mindset, and tools I use to stay consistent while working full-time, raising kids, and writing in the margins.

Get it here

You’re not falling behind.
You’re walking the line.
One intentional step at a time.

Let’s build something worth handing down.
